Over at I Heart Faces they are celebrating families with a “We are Family” photo challenge this week. Audrey Woulard is the guest judge, her specialty is modern children's portraiture.

I love the family photo that I have chosen to share with them. I love the fact that all 5 of the children are gazing at mom and dad to see just exact what "might" be going on!!!! I enjoy entering this contest from time to time. It's always fun and makes you look at your work in a new way!!!

Another I Heart Faces contest is up and this time it's all about bubbles. My last photo placed in the top ten out of over 400 entries and I was so thrilled. This week I am entering a picture of my middle daughter, Geneva. I took this photo and made somewhat of a fantasy piece out of it especially for her. We all know that most little girls are into fairies and storybook dreams!!!! She even has her own "play name," meet Kasey the Princess, Fairy, Frog, Pony...or whatever else she decides to be that day.

Doesn't it blow your mind how fast our children grow? It seems just like the other day Sissy was pregnant and now here we are with a quickly growing 5 month old. I had the opportunity to photograph some amazingly, beautiful children and a couple of precious bellies at the first annual McDowell Hospital Baby Expo held at the end of May. I had a great time with all of the little ones and enjoyed seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new ones. Best wishes to all of the new mommies and the mommies-to-be....there is nothing more rewarding in the world than being called a Mother.

Wasn't Abby just born yesterday? I love my job and having the opportunity to photograph babies is so awesome. Although I have three of my own, every now and again you get that little yearning for another little one yourself. That's when the Lord sends me a baby to photograph and I get my little fix as I like to say. Besides I love my husband and I'd like to keep him around a while....a fourth might just push him over the edge! LOL

I shot Abby when she was only a few days old and now here she is a few short months later smiling and holding her head up and taking on a personality. Where does the time go? I know we all ask ourselves that, but honestly when you have children it just makes it fly by that much faster. Here's to wishing that they stayed little forever, but for being so happy knowing they are healthy and growing!!!

I would like to congratulate this couple on there new marriage. They have been together for several years and are now husband and wife. Despite the hot weather, their wedding was gorgeous. I never had the opportunity to really get to know my cousins well, because they didn't live close and we rarely got to see them. Now my children are very close to my sisters daughter which I love...they almost consider her their big sister. This is also the case for Amber and Kendra's children. I had the opportunity last weekend to photograph the wedding of a young man I have known ever since I was a young girl. Today is my baby's 1st birthday! I cannot believe how quickly this year has passed by....it seems like it was just yesterday that I was being admitted into the hospital to have her. Recently the years have seemed to fly by.

Growing Older!!!

Birthdays, aren't they great? Well they were when we were kids and I know that this guy just celebrated another one and I'm sure it was thrilling! I know what his mom is thinking, "where has the time gone?" I think that same question when I look at my own children. I remember the year that my mom turned 40, that was the same year that I turned 21 (yeah I have a young, totally cool mama)...she told me that my birthday was harder on her that year than her own was. My turning 21 was more saddening to her!!! I think that as our kids grow we as parents lose something....that is why it is so important that we capture them just as they are. I think sometimes we fear that we will forget the little things about our children: like the smile that belongs only to them, the innocence and love that their eyes hold, their ever changing look of maturing and growing. Again, that is why capturing those moments only help us to remember them in years to come, so we will never forget! I hope that I have capture this moment, this 12 year old moment, in time just for you. Happy Birthday...to son and mom both!!!

I remember how exciting it was to me when I first started planning my own wedding. That has been 9 years ago now...my how the time flies. Another fall wedding and a very chilly one at that. It was such a lovely time for this couple as they start out their new life together. A brisk breeze didn't damper the joy that was felt on this day in the least...there was much love and smiles shared throughout the evening by everyone. Congratulations to you both! and a few dads too! I had a great time on Sunday with all of these families. Each one of them had their own fun mini-session at the most lovely outdoor location. The Lord provided us with such terrific weather. We had a few smiles and a few that weren't so into the whole thing, but as a mother of three, you have to know with children, "picture day" is most always a hit or miss kind of day. I want to thank each person that was present at our event. I must let all of you blogger's out there know that a 20 minute session is a quick picture session, not the full fledged session that I normally do. So you don't get the whole take your time, let's try this, let's take a break, we'll wait till the baby stops crying kind of session. You just go with it and hope for the best! With that said I still want to share with each of you a little sneak peek of some of the shots I got during our time together. I want to send out a special thanks to Julie for being such a lovely hostess and to all of you that participated!

that I am a little behind on Blog posts, just as I am everything else. If you could only see my laundry! I won't go there.......instead I'll focus on the session that I had yesterday. Can we say that this little guy just amazes me more and more every time I see him. He and my daughter are only a week apart in age and he has teeth and he talks and he walks, all the things that my little girl doesn't have or do. I had a great time with these two brothers on Thursday! They were so cute and showed such affection towards one another. I remember all of the fun times I had with my brother and sister growing up. There is a special love that is shared between siblings that doesn't have to be spoken, it is just known. I had a terrific time with this family on Sunday. It was another occasion where everyone had the same name! It makes it so easy when you say one name and you have the attention of three men at once. All 11 of us travel for what seemed to be forever, but when we arrived we all quickly realized that the breathtaking view and the serenity of this place was worth every mile of those curvy, dirt roads. I shot this wedding on Saturday and might I say that it was absolutely breathetaking. The bride's name was Amber, as was one of the bridesmaids. So counting me that made 3 Ambers...plus there were 2 bridesmaids named Lauren. I even decided that I would call the guys Amber and Lauren too....they responded rather well to the tease! The "fall themed" wedding made me long for those chilly days and wearing a jacket. Congratulations to the happy couple....I wish you both all the joy your hearts can hold!

This was one of the most beautiful weddings I have had the opportunity to photograph. The Basilica was beautiful and had some of the most gorgeous architecture you have ever laid your eyes upon. This first photo pretty much set the mood for the entire time I spent with Ethan yesterday. I must also say that it is one of my most favorite shots that I have taken lately. It reflects his true feeling, which I love! Here he was tired and wasn't interested in me very much, but such a doll just the same! Once his little head hit the car seat I am sure he was out like a light. I did manage to get a few shots that captured his preciousness! We will certainly try again mom and dad....and I'm sure the next time he will be lovin' the camera and hammin' it up!

It's always great to take family pics, because there is simply nothing better in the world than family. I had a great time sharing the afternoon with the "Styles". There was running, jumping, hugging, kissing, splashing and another whole slew of verbs that I captured while being with this bunch. It was a real action packed day and I'd like to add that the weather managed to cooperate with us so nicely.

What a sweet little guy. He was all smiles when mommy was around, but as quickly as she stepped away the tears came. "Oh to be loved!" My SIL and I talk about this all of the time.
